The Vancouver Nighthawks will return to Thunderbird Stadium at the University of British Columbia for the 2016 season.
Situated right in the heart of UBC’s campus, Thunderbird Stadium has been home to the Vancouver Nighthawks since the franchise’s founding in 2013. Outside of MLU action, ultimate fans may remember Thunderbird as the site of the 2008 World Ultimate and Guts Championship (WUGC) Open Final between Team Canada and Team USA that Team Canada won in a thrilling 17-15 victory. The stadium has also hosted numerous Canadian Ultimate Championships and Canadian University Ultimate Championship events.xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017)
The Nighthawks success at Thunderbird in 2014, only losing a single game, was a major factor in the teams postseason run and eventual Western Conference Championship. After a disappointing season in 2015, the Nighthawks look to get back on track in 2016 and compete in with Portland, Seattle and San Francisco for a spot in the MLU postseason.
Opened in 1967, Thunderbird Stadium seats 3,500 fans in the bleachers, while including additional lawn seating for 1,500 others in a grassy space looking over the artificial turf field.
The parking lot can fit 2,000 cars, and doubles as a popular tailgate locale. The Nighthawks will play all 5 of their regular season home games at Thunderbird in 2016.
Tickets for all 2016 Nighthawks home games are on sale now, with single game and season ticket packages available here.
