The Vancouver Nighthawks announced today a title partnership with Granville Island Brewing, Canada’s first microbrewery, located in the heart of Vancouver.

As part of the sponsorship deal, Granville Island Brewing will serve their craft brews at every Nighthawks home game at Thunderbird Stadium.

“The Vancouver Nighthawks are very happy to have Granville Island Brewing on board as a title sponsor for the 2015 season,” said Nighthawks General Manager Brian Gisel. “Granville Island has long been a staple of the Vancouver sporting scene, and this partnership will ensure that the fans of the Nighthawks will be able to sample some of the best craft-brewed beverages available.”

As the title sponsor, Granville Island Brewing will have their logos featured on the front of the Nighthawks jerseys.

The Nighthawks and Granville Island will also work together to promote the team through various pub partners throughout the region.

“Ultimate frisbee and craft beer are both strong traditions of Vancouver and all of the Pacific Northwest,” said Granville Island Brewing Brand Manager Jamie Bennett. “As Canada’s first microbrewery, our founders changed the game when they successfully launched Granville Island Brewing, and we’re excited to partner with like-minded people that are also changing the game. Joining the Nighthawks and MLU is the start of a great relationship.”

Vancouver’s craft beer institution since 1984, Granville Island Brewing has a long history of working with the community and local sports teams.

About Granville Island Brewing

In 1984 something happened that forever changed the local beer industry: Granville Island Brewing opened the doors to Canada’s first microbrewery. In so doing, we opened hearts and minds to a whole new beer drinking experience. Driven by a firm belief that the West was ready for a premium, natural, unpasteurized beer, Granville Island Brewing introduced locals to our now famous Island Lager. And it wasn’t long before we were adding more new and unique, West Coast-inspired craft beers to our lineup.

In celebration of our heritage, we name each new GIB beer after iconic Vancouver locations that embody the West Coast lifestyle. Over the years, we’ve become more than just the local brewery. We focus much of our sustainability efforts towards ongoing community investment, including sponsorship and charitable support, involvement with local sports teams, community organizations and more. We’re just as proud of that as we are about what we put in our bottles.
