The Nighthawks find themselves at number four in the MLU Power Rankings this week after a high-scoring affair with Seattle saw the Vancouver squad pull out a victory. The Nighthawks also put two exclamation marks on the win by recording their most points in a single game in franchise history as well as defeating the Rainmakers for the first time.
“I believe the team deserves the #4 ranking based on our results,” commented Matthew Doyle, before noting in classic Nighthawks fashion how the squad prefers to keep their attentions on the field. “With regards to being ranked above Seattle, we’re happier with how we responded to the bad game against Seattle a couple of weeks ago than the actual ranking.”
Vancouver has been up-and-down this year, but when they’re good, they’re good. Both wins have come at home and neither has been close; Doyle addressed that fact when pointing out the team’s strong showings at Thunderbird Stadium and what they’ll have to do to beat San Francisco on Saturday: “We’re a little bit of a Jekyll and Hyde team, with our home dominance versus road losses. The ability to maintain our focus and play our game, in the opponent’s stadium, is something we’re looking to demonstrate this weekend.”

The Nighthawks are down in San Francisco this weekend to take on the 1-5 Dogfish in a game that could propel Vancouver into a tie for second place in the West. Opening pull is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17.
