The Vancouver Nighthawks are proud to announce that their own Aaron Loach has won the Friction Gloves Catch of the Week Award for Week 2 of MLU play.

It makes sense that the throw came from Kirk Savage, as Loach and Savage have played together for many years. Who knows how many scoring throws Loach has caught from Savage over the hundreds of games they have played together?

After Savage intercepted a pass near the Seattle Rainmakers’ goal line, given that the veteran handler has a huge array of funky throws it didn’t surprise Loach that Savage unleashed a scoober that forced him to layout for the goal.

“This is definitely not the hardest catch I’ve made from Savvy,” said Loach. “I knew the disc was coming my direction in some way, shape, or form, so I just cut to the space.”

“Whether I’d catch it or not didn’t really cross my mind. It wasn’t one of those giant running plays where I have time to see the disc’s path stretch out in front of me. I turned, saw it, and went for it.”

This isn’t the first time Loach has ascended the podium. Last season he won the Offensive Play of the Week award for for another outstanding catch.

The Nighthawks’ home opener against the Portland Stags is an afternoon game, this coming Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Thunderbird Stadium.
