The Vancouver Nighthawks announced their first roster addition of 2016 today, signing Erik Hunter for the upcoming MLU season.

Hunter (6’0″, 170lbs) is returning to the Nighthawks, having previously playing with the team during their inaugural season in 2013.  During his rookie season, Hunter scored 4 goals, with 3 assists and 6 blocks on 114 points played.

A product of Kwantlem Polytecnic University, Hunter is a native of Ottawa and played with Ottawa Juniors (taking bronze at Canadian Ultimate Championships) before joining the club team Firebird, serving as captain in his fourth and fifth seasons with the team.

Moving to British Columbia, Hunter joined the Furious George club team, winning three Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC) before moving to his current club, Blackfish as a player/coach and taking them to a 2nd place finish at CUC in 2014.

Hunter’s coaching career extends beyond Blackfish, as he has coached Simon Fraser University’s team for five years, as well as coaching teams to several gold and silver medals at provincials.  Hunter’s coaching resume will extend this summer, as he will be an assistant coach for Team Canada U20 in Wroclaw, Poland in August.
