The Vancouver Nighthawks have announced that Michael Downie will be the team’s Operations Manager for the 2016 MLU Season.
Following the restructuring of the Nighthawks front office after the 2015 season, the team announced today that Michael Downie will be joining the team as it’s Operations Manager for 2016.
With a background in operations and media relations management, Downie most recently served as a Regional Execution Manager for an experiential marketing agency in charge of western Canada. His professional experience, as well as his engaging and energetic personality weighed favorably in the decision to place him in charge of team’s operations and logistics for the upcoming season.
An ultimate player himself, Downie began playing in elementary school and played all the way through high school. A native of Vancouver, Downie has been an active, year-round player in the Vancouver Ultimate League (VUL).
“I’m really looking forward to helping the sport of ultimate and the MLU to grow.” said Downie, “In Vancouver, the Nighthawks are an inspiration and a place that gives new players a goal towards which to aspire. A Vancouver Nighthawks Championship would be icing on the cake.”
